Renowned for its art, history and evocative landscape, Tuscany is a region where the past and the present merge in pleasant harmony. Hill-towns gaze across the countryside form on high, many encircled by Etruscan walls and spender cypress trees. Handsome palaces testify to the region’s wealth while medieval town halls indicated a long-standing traditional of democracy and self-government.

Florence

Florence (in Italian Firenze) is a vast and beautiful monument to the Renaissance, the artistic and cultural reawakening of the 15th century. Writers such as Dante, Petrarch and Machiavelli contributed to its proud literary heritage, though it was the paintings and sculptures of artists such as Botticelli, Michelangelo and Donatello that turned the city into one of the world’s greatest capitals.
One of the bridges of Florence stands out as being unique- The Ponte Vecchp, whose most striking feature is the multitude shops, built on it. First constructed by the Etruscans in ancient times, this bridge is the only in the city to have survived the World War II intact.
