Naples
The compact centre of Naples, filled with palaces, churches, monasteries and convents, revolves around just a few streets. From piazza del plebiscite, Via Toledo (also called via Roma) proceeds north towards Piazza Dante, To the east, narrow Via del Tribunale and Via San Bagio dei Librai penetrate the historic and noisy heart of the city, the Spaccanapoli (split Napoli, in Italian Naples).
It is located just between the Vesuvius volcano and a separate volcanic area, the Campi Flegrei, all part of the Campanian volcanic arc. Napoli is also where pizza originally came from. It s rich in historical, cultural and artistic traditions and gastronomy. Locals tend to use their own special language, Neapolitan (Napulitano in Italian).
