Friuli-Venezia Giulia |
||
Friuli- Venezia Guilia lines the border with Slovania to the east, taking in the Carnic Hills in the north, the Roman town of Aquileia and the bustling Adiatic port of Trieste. Veneto and Friuli house beaches and ports, which provide a contrast with the area’s gently rolling countryside, the vast stretch of the Lake Granda and the many attractive resorts and ancient towns.
It is one out of the four autonomous Italian regions.

TriesteTrieste is an atmospheric city, tucked next to Slovenia, with a long bustling harbour lined with handsome buildings and lapped by the waves of the Adriatic Sea. In the beginning of the 20th century, Trieste was a buzzing cosmopolitan city frequented by artists such as James Joyce, Italo Svevo and Umberto Saba. The city was a very real part of Mitteleuropa, with a cosmopolitan mix of Italian (65%), Germanic (6%), and Slavic (27%) elements (along with others), as well as a border-town feeling that it retains even today. |
